A few months ago, CHVRCHES’ lead singer Lauren Mayberry partook in a new project by fashion photographer Kevin Sinclair called Vestal. The outcome was a stunning photo shoot including a featured cover shot and an interview with Mayberry for the March 2018 manifesto issue. All photos by Kevin Sinclair, styled by Stacey Cunningham, hair by John Ruidant and makeup by Rebecca Alexander.
Vestal has been described as, “Not quite a magazine, nor exactly a book, Vestal is rather a hybrid object; a polyphonic work marching to the beat of ten chapters focused on Q&A’s. It is a kind of magazine with its own unique look & feel crafted by Kevin Sinclair. Vestal is setting our times to words and images. The present of Vestal is a time designed to last, explored and revisited. Like a collection of short stories or a beloved record we leave to one side, only to come back to it, time and again.” Click here to read the interview with Mayberry. At the time of writing we don’t have any further information regarding a print edition that was once rumored a couple of months ago.

Lauren Mayberry lands the cover story for the latest issue of Yen magazine (issue 79) which hit newsstands today, Thursday, October 8, 2015.
An excellent interview by Jana Roose captures Lauren’s background in journalism and music. Interesting topics of discussion include the writing process for CHVRCHES’ second album Every Open Eye, the development of her stage performances, things thrown on stage, pranking their tour manager and the bravery she displays by standing up to the online misogyny she faces daily. The stunning photos for this cover story were taken by Danny Clinch. “I’m definitely aware that there are a lot of young girls and young boys who follow our band, and the amount of young girls who’ve said that that makes them feel better about stuff that happens to them, and the amount of young dudes who’ve said, ‘I didn’t know that stuff happened to that extent,’ if you can do anything that starts people talking about something then I think that’s positive.” – Lauren Mayberry
The October 2015 issue of DIY magazine featuring CHVRCHES is on newsstands now. The eye of the storm takes a look at the creative process behind CHVRCHES’ recently released sophomore album Every Open Eye along with some great photos by Mike Massaro.
“We were making music without fear.” – Martin Doherty “We wanted to make something that we feel proud of and we feel good about.” – Lauren Mayberry “The thing that is always the biggest compliment to us is that it means something to people. So, if they can listen to the music and the lyrics and the songs as a whole and feel a resonance or an identification with them, or if it makes them stronger or inspires them to write, that’s ultimately what I would want.” – Iain Cook More self assertive this time around and a better sense of who they are as a band they seamlessly created their latest album in the comforts of Alucard Studios in Glasgow just like their debut album The Bones of What You Believe.
