Lauren Mayberry Top 10 Moments of 2015

We debated about doing a year end highlight list but after all we’re a tribute website to the person who inspires us most, Lauren Mayberry, so we thought this would be a fitting look back at some amazing and powerful moments from 2015. It was quite a year for Lauren with her band CHVRCHES, TYCI, Goodbye Records, all the excellent interviews, videos and more! Honestly this was a tough task to narrow down a list to just ten and we could certainly order these in many different ways so don’t take too much stock in the numbers themselves. Some of these moments will make you cry and some will make you smile so without further ado continue reading below to see our Lauren Mayberry top ten moments of 2015.

10. CHVRCHES’ record label Goodbye Records signs new artist Dreller. Check out his latest single “One Night Stand”.

9. Lauren destroys concert heckler who yelled out “marry me”. What the video doesn’t show is that this person was yelling stuff like this the entire show and ruining it for others which warranted her response. Watch the confrontation unfold in the video below and then click here to read an excellent interview by Bitch Media that includes more elaboration from Lauren.

8. TYCI finds a new home on iTunes for their monthly podcast. TYCI is a female collective founded by Lauren and run entirely by volunteers so when their podcasts started to be deleted by SoundCloud a new platform was needed. After a short transition to Mixcloud, a fundraiser and some hard work the ladies prevailed and were granted their iTunes license with a debut podcast in December.

7. Lauren interviewed by a fourth grader named Piper from Kids Interview Bands. Watch the cute interview from the young journalist below.

6. Lauren joins The National on stage at Treasure Island Music Festival for a stirring rendition of “I Need My Girl”.

5. Lauren speaks out about misogynist trolls with Cathy Newman of Channel 4 News to discuss her viewpoints on the constant harassment she endures and the importance of speaking out.

4. Lauren saves the day at Pukkelpop Festival. We know Lauren doesn’t like to relive this event but we think this was an incredibly courageous and beautiful moment. After some technical difficulties CHVRCHES set was unfortunately cut short but Lauren with the support of everyone in earshot led an emotional a cappella rendition of their hit song “The Mother We Share”.

3. CHVRCHES announce official FANCLVB! As if they haven’t already done enough for us fans now they create the ultimate fan experience with pre-sales access, meet and greet opportunities, forums to interact with other fans and the FANCLVB postbox at their headlining shows. Drop off a letter to them via this postbox with a self addresses stamped envelope and you will even get a hand written letter back from Lauren herself!

2. Lauren pens a powerful letter titled “My Life, My Voice, My Body, My Rules” for Lenny Letter. She bravely recalls a past abusive relationship and how she got out. This essay is very emotional and heart wrenching to read but very important in our eyes because it lets Women know they’re not alone, it can happen to anyone and abuse doesn’t always have to be physical. We can’t thank you enough Lauren for your courage to share such a frightening time in your life so that others can break free from these toxic relationships too. 1. CHVRCHES release their highly anticipated sophomore album Every Open Eye on September 25, 2015 which debuted at #8 on the Billboard charts and has been featured on countless year end best of lists. Did you really think they would have a sophomore slump? Neither did we and we love this album! Thank you Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty for the endless hours of enjoyment we have had from this album.

Thank you for all the great memories and powerful messages Lauren! We say it a lot but you do truly inspire all of us in many ways. We really hope you had a great 2015 and look forward to 2016.
