Read their announcement above and if you’re in the Glasgow area head over to their last event this coming Tuesday, September 26th featuring Lazy Day at The Hug and Pint. Thank you to all the wonderful ladies involved with TYCI.
After five amazing years, TYCI have called it a day. Founded by Lauren Mayberry, this collective run by women created, discussed and promoted numerous things including live events in Glasgow, a live radio show, podcasts, zines and more in support of equality in music and in everyday life. Although we’re sad to see them go we all enjoyed and learned many things from TYCI.

Earlier today Entertainment Weekly premiered CHVRCHES’ cover song of Tegan and Sara’s “Call It Off” for the upcoming album The Con X: Covers which is due out October 20th. Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty have done it again with another beautiful cover. Much longer than the original, this ambient interpretation will have you feeling like you’re floating in the clouds above. Give it a listen and let us know what you think in the comments below.
“Lauren [Mayberry of CHVRCHES] was one of the first artists we approached for The Con X: Covers project,” Tegan Quin told EW of the track. “We are massive fans of CHVRCHES and the music they make. Lauren is an ally to the LGBTQ community and has been outspoken and political, so she fit the ethos of the project perfectly. CHVRCHES are in the studio making a new record, so we were touched they made the time to cover ‘Call It Off.’” Pre-order The Con X: Covers tomorrow from teganandsara.com and receive an instant download of CHVRCHES’ cover of “Call It Off”.

Earlier this year CHVRCHES’ lead singer Lauren Mayberry and actor Justin Long visited the Girls Home in Granada, Nicaragua. Seeing the difficulties others face in this world is rather eye-opening but when we come together as people to help others these experiences can be very heartwarming.
Watch the new video below produced by Rachel Collingwood and Andrew Sutton capturing these moments from this visit by Mayberry and Long. To learn more and how you can help, please visit the Girls Home. |
